After a disappointing performance in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup campaign, the Meralco Bolts are looking to bring in a familiar face for the season-ending conference.
Head coach Norman Black said they're looking to bring back two-time Best Import Allen Durham for the Governors’ Cup—a conference where the Bolts have experienced relative success over the past three years.
"He's a strong possibility. We just haven't decided what we're gonna do yet, but it's a strong possibility AD will be back. He gives us what we need," said Black while also clarifying that nothing is cast in stone yet.
"We're hoping bring AD back, we just have to settle things with him," Black further explained.
Tapping the services of Durham would be a huge boost in the third conference for the Bolts who struggled with their imports in the Commissioner's Cup. It also didn't help that Meralco had to change import several times after original choice Gani Lawal suffered an injury in the middle of the conference.
Black also pointed out the need for the team to have someone man the paint especially after giving up 22 boards against Alaska.
"I think we gave up 22 offensive rebounds tonight, so we really need somebody who man the paint and control the boards. I think that would help us a great deal," he said.
Black also hopes Durham who steered the Bolts a back-to-back appearance in the Finals of the Governor's Cup, will still be a perfect fit for Meralco.
"In the past, he's been a perfect fit for us, so I'm hoping we can work things out with him," Black said of Durham who will be coming off a stint in Japan during the off-season.
