Bolts 84, Petron 91

Bolts vs Petron
Through three quarters, Alex Cabagnot was having a bad night.

When the game called for experience to step forward, Petron Blaze's premier guard was the first to fall in line.

Cabagnot detonated a 12-0 bomb in the fourth quarter with rare back-to-back four-point plays – likely a first in the league -- and the Boosters wiggled out from a close contest to whip Meralco, 91-84, and move to within a win of advancing to the semifinal round of the PBA Philippine Cup Friday night (16 December 2011) at the Araneta Coliseum.

Bolts 71, Kings 81

Bolts vs Kings
Barangay Ginebra held Meralco down to 27 points in the first half and to seven points in the last 8:21 of play in a fine defensive job leading to its 800th win in franchise history.

The Kings drubbed the Bolts, 81-71, as they sustained their climb in the PBA Philippine Cup, notching a third straight win to the delight of their throngs that braved this rainy Sunday (6 December 2011).

Meralco is safely in the playoffs.

So why risk injuries to players by playing hard, right? Wrong.

The Bolts came out with the same passion and intensity of a ballclub hanging on for its dear life, making the key defensive stops down the stretch in overcoming Powerade Friday night (4 December 2011), 100-98, in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.

Bolts 75, Petron 76

Bolts vs Petron
Arwind Santos knocked in the go-ahead shot then helped Denok Miranda stop Macmac Cardona in the ensuing play as Petron Blaze squeaked past Meralco, 76-75, in their PBA Philippine Cup out-of-town showdown at the Naga City Coliseum here Saturday night (26 November 2011).

The Boosters squandered an 11-point lead at the start of the fourth quarter but hung tough in a battle at the finish as they stayed on a roll and closed in on the front-running Talk n Text Tropang Texters (8-1) with eight wins against three losses.

Bolts 83, Barako 75

Bolts vs Barako
Ageless Asi Taulava turned back time and came through with a mammoth performance as Meralco downed Barako Bull, 83-75, to leap to solo fourth spot in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum last Wednesday (23 November 2011).

Mark Cardona fired 17 points while Gabby Espinas, Solomon Mercado and Mark Isip chipped in 16, 12 and 10, respectively.

Bolts 98, Powerade 96

Meralco relied on its defense, game-long brilliance by Gabby Espinas and late heroics by Mark Cardona as it edged Powerade, 98-96, to climb up the ladder in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum on 16 November 2011.

Espinas paced the Bolts with 25 points including a free throw that sealed it while Cardona had 18 points he highlighted with that baby hook he is known for with 12 seconds to go to help seal the deal and snare them their sixth win against four losses, which was good for solo fifth place.

Bolts 79, BMeg 95

Meralco vs BMeg
A 22-point lead wasn't comfortable enough for the B-Meg Llamados as they still had to rely on Peter June Simon and Kerby Raymundo for clutch baskets in the fourth quarter to hold off a late charge by the Meralco Bolts en route to a 95-79 victory Friday night (11 November 2011) at the Cuneta Astrodome.

Simon scored 12 of his 15 points in the fourth quarter and teamed-up with Kerby Raymundo (15 points) to open the period with a 13-5 flurry that kept the Bolts at bay and secured B-Meg's second successive win and fourth overall in eight games in the PBA Philippine Cup.

Bolts 93, Ginebra 87

Humbled by Rain or Shine the last time out, Meralco just refused to lose again, bouncing back with a 93-87 win over Barangay Ginebra in the 2011-12 PBA Philippine Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum Friday night (4 November 2011).

The Bolts worked hard on both ends throughout and emerged triumphant, ending the Kings’ amazing two-game run of come-from-behind wins.

Bolts 80, Petron 70

One more able body for Meralco can go a long way, especially if that player is Sol Mercado.

Mercado finally saw action for the season and immediately scored a team-high 16 points off the bench as the Bolts dealt the Petron Blaze Boosters their first defeat with an 80-70 victory Sunday (23 October 2011) in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Gabby Espinas had his second double-double of the conference with 14 points and 12 rebounds and along with Asi Taulava made some crucial baskets in the fourth period. Meralco's defense also held Petron to its lowest output yet for the season

Bolts 84, Painters 89

Bolts vs Painters
Fired-up by a near fight at the end of the first half, Rain or Shine went on a searing third-quarter breakaway and held on for an 89-84 win over Meralco in the 2011-12 PBA Philippine Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum Wednesday night (19 October 2011).

The Elasto Painters went berserk in the third period and ripped the Bolts apart despite their prolific rookie Paul Lee being neutralized.

Bolts 84, B-Meg 78

Bolts vs BMeg
Meralco continued to play well though crippled by injuries, scoring a second straight win in the 2011-12 PBA Philippine Cup with an 84-78 upset of B-Meg Saturday night (15 October 2011) at The Arena in San Juan.

The Bolts again put up a solid defensive job together and banked on Chico Lanete, Mark Isip, Mark Borboran and Asi Tauvala for the offensive firepower in chalking up a follow-up to their initial victory over the Shopinas.com Clickers Wednesday (12 October 2011).

Meralco's prized players were hardly missed Wednesday (12 October 2011), not when there were still some able bodies to fill up the gaps.

None bigger than Asi Taulava, who scored a crucial fallaway jumper to point the undermanned Bolts to a 79-72 victory over the Shopinas.com Clickers 79-72 for their breakthrough win in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
