Meralco pulled off an 82-72 stunner over a sluggish Rain or Shine crew to snap its six-game losing skid last 20 January in the 2017 PBA Philippine Cup at Cuneta Astrodome.

Learning its lesson from last game’s meltdown, GlobalPort staved off Meralco with a 97-89 victory last 6 January in the 2017 PBA Philippine Cup at Mall of Asia Arena.

Terrence Romeo took charge in the fourth and unloaded 12 of his 27 points, on top of five rebounds and five assists, to quash the Bolts’ late rally and help snap the Batang Pier’s two-game skid.

Bolts 98, KaTropa 87

It was a rematch of last conference semifinalists and the outcome was still the same. Meralco Bolts just made it four in a row versus TNT KaTropa from their Governors Cup Final Four showdown as the Bolts inflicted the Texters another sorry loss in their PBA Philippine Cup matchup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum last 9 December.

Rookie Ed Daquiaog delivered a game-high 23 points while Chris Newsome came up with a near triple-double job with 11 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists as the Bolts topped the Texters, 98-87, to move up to joint second place with the GlobalPort Batang Pier, the Phoenix Fuel Masters and the San Miguel Beermen at 2-1.

Bolts 106, NLEX 93

Meralco Bolts stepped on the gas pedal late, turning back NLEX, 106-93 to notch its first win in Petron Saturday Special of the 2017 PBA Philippine Cup at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Chris Newsome and rookie Ed Daquioag paired up in the fourth quarter as the Bolts went on a decisive 16-3 tear to turn a close 87-84 affair to a 103-87 lead within the final two minutes.
