Bolts 86, Elasto Painters 89

JR Quinahan has never been known to be a quick-release kind of player. But Wednesday he became one and Rain or Shine was all the better because of it.

Quinahan buried a three-point shot at the buzzer to lift the Elasto Painters to a thrilling 89-86 victory over Meralco and tantalizingly closer to a top two finish in the PLDT myDSL PBA Philippine Cup eliminations at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Semis: Bolts 73, San Mig 69

The Meralco Bolts led from start to finish against the San Mig Coffee Mixers, leveling their 2013 PBA Govenors' Cup semifinals series at one game apiece, via a 73-69 win, Tuesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The second-seeded San Mig Coffee won game one last Sunday, 83-73, but the third-ranked Bolts managed to forge a deadlock, though their foes nearly gave them a scare late, getting to within three points with 1:15 left to play.

Bolts vs Mixers Game 1
San Mig Coffee hardly lacked energy and enthusiasm playing a third game in five nights, outlasting Meralco, 83-73, in a hard-fought, blue-collar battle in Game One of their PBA Governors’ Cup Final Four showdown at the Smart Araneta Coliseum Sunday night.

The Mixers actually came out a little flat but hung on before coming through with a key run in an opportune time, thus, drawing first blood in the best-of-five semis series.

The Meralco Bolts is known to be a defensive-oriented team, but not this stingy.

With their defense doing the most damage the Bolts easily hurdled Barako Bull, 86-68, Tuesday (25 September 2013) to repeat as PBA Governors Cup semifinalist at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Mike Cortez's adjustment period with Meralco did not take as long as expected.

To the delight of Meralco, which drew from Cortez what was expected of him right on his second game as he helped the Bolts beat Air21, 100-91, Sunday (15 September 2013) to formally clinch a quarterfinals berth in the PBA Governors Cup at the Cuneta Astrodome.

The Bolts stymied defending champion Rain or Shine, 82-76, Friday (6 September 2013) at the Mall of Asia Arena for their third straight PBA Governors’ Cup victory and add on to a surge that already has as victims Talk 'N Text and Alaska.

Mario West erupted for 20 points to outscore the entire Alaska Milk team in the third quarter and fuel Meralco's breakaway en route to an 84-74 win in the PBA Governors Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum Tuesday night (3 September 2013).

Held to eight points in the first half, West went on an attack mode in the third period, going 6-of-12 from the field and 8-of-12 from the stripe for the biggest output by any player in a quarter in this conference.

West scattered 47 points and anchored the stretch defense on Tony Mitchell in leading the Bolts over favored Talk ‘N Text, 92-86, Friday (31 August 2013) in the PBA Governors Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Eman Monfort complemented Mike Singletary's fine game with an exceptional one of his own in helping the Energy nip Meralco, 90-89, Sunday (18 August 2013) in the PBA Governors' Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Bolts 89, Petron 83

Despite just one practice session with Meralco, Mario West put up a solid job leading the team to a triumphant debut in the PBA Governors Cup.

West came through with 23 points, 11 rebounds, four assists, three steals and one block as the Bolts drubbed the Petron Blaze Boosters, 89-83, in the tourney’s initial play date at the Smart Araneta Coliseum Friday.
