Bolts 93, Black Bears 91

Barangay Ginebra resident impport Justin Brownlee finally made his keenly awaited debut for rival team Meralco in the East Asia Super League (EASL) last 6 December.

Brownlee had a triumphant first game for the Bolts, helping his team nip the Macau Black Bears, 93-91, at The Capital Arena in Ilagan, Isabela.

Every Filipino basketball fan has been dreaming of seeing the duo of Justin Brownlee and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson team up in the court. They may finally have their wish.

After missing their first four games, Brownlee finally joined the Bolts in practice on Wednesday, setting the stage for his mouthwatering tandem with his longtime rival Hollis-Jefferson against the Macau Black Bears in the East Asia Super League (EASL) Home and Away Season 3 on 6 December.

Rondae Hollis-Jefferson spoiled Macau’s debut in the 2025-26 season of the East Asia Super League (EASL) after pushing the Bolts past the Black Bears, 92-74, at Cebu Coliseum last 15 November.

Hollis-Jefferson was everywhere on the court, finishing with a monster double-double to the tune of 34 points and 11 rebounds with five assists and two blocks to match.

EASL Upholds Meralco's Win Over Taoyuan

It was reported by several sources that the East Asia Super League (EASL) has upheld Meralco’s 85-76 win over Taoyuan in Ilagan, Isabela, last 8 November even as the Bolts offered a rematch in the spirit of sportsmanship. The Taoyuan Pilots put the game under protest.

Under EASL rules, a team may enlist two world imports, a naturalized player and an Asian heritage recruit but only three are allowed to be on the court at the same time.

Proceeds From Meralco-Macau EASL Game Will Go To Charity

Cebuano basketball fans have something to cheer about after the recent typhoon that battered the island, as the East Asia Super League (EASL) brings top-notch basketball back to Cebu on 15 November at the Cebu Coliseum.

The Meralco Bolts and the Macau Black Bears face off in their Group B elimination round matchup, which carries a special purpose beyond the hardwood.

The Meralco Bolts dropped to 0-2 in Group B of the East Asia Super League (EASL) as it continued to miss the services of Justin Brownlee.

The Bolts fell to the Taoyuan Pauian Pilots, 82-72, last 2 November at Taoyuan Arena, less than two weeks after losing to the Ryukyu Golden Kings in their season-opener.

Bolts Is Off To Their First EASL Game This Season

The Meralco Bolts is ozzing with confidence right now and they are hoping to extend their winning run in the Season 50 PBA Philippine Cup all the way to Okinawa, Japan.

A few hours after disposing previously unbeaten Magnolia, 78-76, the Bolts flew out of the country to kick off its campaign in the 3rd Home and Away Season of the East Asia Super League (EASL).

Who wouldn't be thrilled to have Justin Brownlee and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson on their team? No one. Even Meralco Bolts captain Chris Newsome is excited to play with both in the EASL. These are the two best imports the PBA has seen this decade.

Newsome is happy with how his team has boosted its campaign in the 2025-26 season of the EASL by signing PBA foes Brownlee of Barangay Ginebra and Hollis-Jefferson of TNT as reinforcements, and Puerto Rico national team member Ismael Romero.

For its third try, the Meralco Bolts doesn't want to put everything on a mere luck. They are putting its best foot forward for the brand-new East Asia Super League season, tapping two of the best imports the PBA had ever seen in Justin Brownlee and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson along with 6-foot-10 center Ismael Romero from Puerto Rico.

Brownlee is known for bringing multiple heartbreaks to the Bolts during the storied Meralco-Ginebra rivalry in the PBA but he is now expected to lead the team to a championship glory that had been elusive to Philippine squads in the regional league.

If the plan pushes through, fans will get to see an unlikely alliance between Justin Brownlee and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson as Meralco’s reinforcements for the East Asia Super League (EASL). The tandem already generated quite a buzz on social media in recent days that even coach Luigi Trillo was quite thrilled about the possibility.

"Who wouldn’t want Justin and Rondae?" Trillo told The Inquirer when asked about reports that the Bolts may field the two great PBA imports for the international competition which starts in October.

The Meralco Bolts has once again been selected by the PBA torepresent the league in the 2025-26 season of the East Asia Super League (EASL).

Coach Luigi Trillo said the Bolts were informed on 30 July shortly after the PBA Board of Governors meeting to discuss plans for the landmark 50th season which tips off in October.

The New Taipei Kings battled their way back from the grave to frustrate the visiting Meralco Bolts in a thrilling 106-96 win in double overtime to clinch the last Final Four berth of the East Asia Super League (EASL) Home and Away Season 2 last 12 February at the University of Taipei.

Former NBA player Austin Daye led the home team’s rally from nine points down in the fourth quarter that paved the way for the two extra period.

The Meralco Bolts were pushed to the brink of elimination in the East Asia Super League (EASL) after losing the Ryukyu Golden Kings, 89-71, last 23 January at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

Meralco, which played without import Akil Mitchell, fell to 2-3 in the season after dropping their second straight game in the home-and-away tourney.

The Bolts are in a tight fight with the Macau Black Bears, New Taipei Kings, and Busan KCC Egis for the remaining semis seat in Group A after Ryukyu Golden Kings clinched the first Final Four berth in the same bracket.

The Meralco Bolts blew a 13-point lead in the final four minutes and fell against home team Busan KCC Egis, 72-68, in the EASL Home-And-Away Season 2 last 18 December night at the Busan Sajik gymnasium.

The reigning Korean Basketball League champion went on a telling 19-2 run in the last 4:02 of the game behind a hail of three-pointers by Heo Ung to complete the huge reversal and notch its first win in the tournament.

Meralco Bolts Will Take On Busan Egis In EASL

The Meralco Bolts will be back in action in the East Asia Super League (EASL) on 18 December when they take on the Busan KCC Egis. During their first meeting last 14 November, the Bolts narrowly escapes with a 81-80 win at the PhilSports Arena in the Philippines.

In their previous game, Egis held the lead for much of the game but were overtaken by the Bolts in the final minute. Egis led 26-20 at the end of the first quarter and extended their advantage to 53-42 by halftime. They were still up 68-63 at the end of the third quarter.

New Meralco import Akil Mitchell knocked down the marginal free throw with six seconds left and the Bolts completed its comeback to defeat South Korea’s Busan KCC Egis, 81-80, last 13 November in the East Asia Super League at Philsports Arena in Pasig City.

The reinforcement tapped for the PBA Commissioner’s Cup came through after being fouled in a looseball situation and the visiting Egis in penalty as the Bolts improved to 2-1 in Group B of the regional competition.

Bolts 74, Ryukyu 77

The Meralcoc Bolts tried to hand on and oush at endgame, but their efforts were not enough and suffered a 77-74 loss to Ryukyu Golden Lions in the EASL Season 2 last 16 October at the Okinawa Arena in Japan.

The Bolts trailed by as much as 11 points, 77-66, with 2:49 left on a layup by naturalized player Alex Kirk, but went on an 8-0 run to cut the deficit down to three and threaten for the last time. Import Allen Durham even had a chance to send the game into overtime, but missed on a step-back three-pointer just before the buzzer as the host team escaped with its first win of the season.
