The Meralco Bolts took care of business against GlobalPort, 82-70, on Tuesday (9 December 2014) at Cuneta Astrodome to secure the sixth seed in the 2015 Philippine Cup playoffs.

Their reward is a first round matchup against the defending Grand Slam champion Purefoods, who are the seventh seed. The Hotshots, the Bolts, and Barangay Ginebra San Miguel all finished the elimination round with identical 6-5 records, with quotient determining the seedings of the three teams.

Veteran Reynel Hugnatan connected on a jumper with 57 seconds remaining to help the Meralco Bolts thwart a late Ginebra San Miguel comeback, 109-99, on Friday (21 November 2014) at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.

Hugnatan's exploit came after Meralco used a huge 15-0 second-quarter run. Cliff Hodge and Mark Macapagal backstopped a furious start in the second period to turn a 24-26 deficit into a 39-26 lead. They also combined for 17 of the 29 second-quarter points for the Bolts, who never looked back as Ginebra’s several late runs sputtered.

The ghosts of a bitter loss almost came back to haunt Meralco last 5 November 2014.

Good thing the Bolts had enough of an early cushion and poise in the stretch to notch a 90-75 victory over sister team NLEX to get back on track in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Another overtime game for the Meralco Bolts, but it also gave them their second win in as many starts.

After veteran Reynel Hugnatan bailed them out last time, it is now the turn of shooter John Wilson to shot the lights out in overtime where he scored all of his nine points, including two three-pointers as the Bolts turned back the Blackwater Elite, 83-75, Tuesday night (28 October) to grab a share of leadership in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Reynel Hugnatan went on a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line, including a pair which put the game away in the second extra period, to finish with a career-high 28 points to go with seven rebounds, while Sean Anthony just missed on a double-double with his 14 markers and nine boards.
