After injuries to Cliff Hodge, Mike Tolomia and Ranidel de Ocampo, the Meralco Bolts woes was further compounded when rookie guard Trevis Jackson hurt his back following a bad fall in practice last 28 August.
The No. 5 overall pick in the last draft suffered the injury during a team scrimmage at the Meralco gym in Pasig City.
Jackson was in a lot of pain as he laid on the floor and couldn’t move on his own, complaining about a throbbing pain on his back.
He was later wheeled out on a stretcher and immediately brought to the nearby Medical City.
Team manager Paolo Trillo said the team is hlping Jackson didn’t suffer any major injury.
"We hope it's not serious. We hope it's just back spasm kasi hindi siya makatayo, e. Dati kapag bumagsak yan tumatayo agad. Now, he couldn't stand on his own," said Trillo.
The Bolts are currently preparing for the season-ending PBA Governors and the FIBA Asia Champions Cup in Bangkok, where they will represent the country for the second straight year.
UPDATE: Trevis Jackson suffered no major injury. Trillo said the Fil-Am playmaker got the all clear after a check-up at Medical City where he was rushed shortly after the incident.
"Trevis' condition has improved from last night. It was a severe case of back muscle spasm," said Trillo in a text message last 29 August.
