The embattled Meralco Bolts have welcomed Jimmie Taylor as their new import this 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup. The team announced the development through their official social media accounts a few hours ago.
Taylor will be taking the place of Gani Lawal, who has been put in the injured/reserve list, as per the team. Lawal has been a consistent cog for the Norman Black-mentored squad with averages or 28.5 points, 22.0 rebounds, and 1.17 steals in the six games he has played this conference.
Taylor was drafted with the eighth pick in the second round of the 2017 NBA G League draft by the Sioux Falls Skyforce. In his first season of professional basketball, Taylor averaged 7.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks over 28 games.
After that, Taylor signed with Panionios of the Greek Basket League (GBL) in 2018, However, after some disciplinary issues, he parted ways with the team where he averaged 7 points and 5.3 rebounds in 16 games.
Taylor later signed with Spójnia Stargard of the Polish Basketball League (PLK) where he compiled an average of 10.8 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game. Spójnia finished 13th in the PLK standings.
The Bolts are hoping that Taylor can help improve their 3-3 record this conference.
