Did Danny Ildefonso just confirmed what everyone was thinking all along about the presence of farm teams in the Philippines Basketball Association (PBA)? The Converge assistant coach made his comments on social media that were deemed "detrimental" to the PBA.
League commissioner Willie Marcial made the decision to impose a PhP 20,000 fine on Ildefonso after he summoned the two-time PBA MVP following the FiberXers’ 96-95 win over TNT last 27 August 2024.
Ildefonso was summoned following his comments related to the situation of his son Dave, who was picked No. 5 overall by NorthPort in this season’s draft but has yet to sign up with the Governors’ Cup now in full swing.
In comments made through Ildefonso's personal Facebook account, the San Miguel great responded to a fan that said that his son Dave should be banned by the league for not yet signing with the Batang Pier.
"Sabihin mo ‘yan sa farm team mo," the Facebook account Lakay Danny Ildefonso wrote.
Marcial said the two didn’t discuss the Facebook comment.
Negotiations between Dave Ildefonso and NorthPort remain at a standstill with the Batang Pier already playing two games in the Governors’ Cup.
