Allen Durham was one with his former teammates in celebrating Meralco’s breakthrough championship achievement in the PBA Season 48 Philippine Cup.
"Finally!! Congratulations @meralco," the three-time PBA Best Import posted on his X account as he shared the Bolts' championship poster.
Durham sharing the elation is understandable considering that he’s had four tour of duties with the team.
He led Meralco to its first-ever finals appearance back in the 2016 PBA Governors’ Cup and helped the franchise reach the championship series twice more, but there were beaten by Barangay Ginebra all three times.
Despite that, the Meralco orange still flows through Durham’s bloodstream even if he plays elsewhere.
That was evident when he crossed paths with the Bolts in the East Asia Super League while playing for Japan B.League champion Ryukyu Golden Kings last year.
And don’t count out a Meralco reunion, especially with Durham now out of Ryukyu and the next conference being the Governors’ Cup.
Even coach Luigi Trillo has welcomed the possibility in the past, saying, "Who wouldn’t want Allen? He’s been like a family to us and he’s been with us for so many years."
