The 2016 PBA All-Star Weekend will be held at the Araneta Coliseum in August, the league website announced last 19 July.
After earlier considering holding the event in Dubai, the PBA instead decided to stay in Manila and signed a contract with Uniprom, the events arm of the Araneta Group, at Novotel.
The All-Star Weekend will feature traditional events like the All-Star Game, Three-Point Shootout, and the Dunk Contest, but PBA commissioner Chito Narvasa said they are working to make the 2016 event one to remember.
"Sinabihan na ako ni chairman Robert Non na kailangan under his watch, maiba naman para matandaan ng basketball fans 'yung event," Narvasa said, as quoted by PBA.ph.
"I also urged the players to show extra effort in reaching out to the fans, to give them more enjoyment," he added.
As in previous years, fans will vote for their favorite players to determine the rosters of the North and South teams for the All-Star Game. It is still too early to tell if the PBA is seriously considering the suggestion by Eric Menk to pit the veterans against the younger players in match dubbed "The Young Once" versus "The Young Ones."
