Meralco Aims To Tap Jason Brickman's True Potential

After several years of trying to get is feet in the PBA, Jason Brickman is making sure that he meets the expectaion of Meralco. At 34-years old, Brickman is still considered a rookie but carries vast experience playing for different leagues in different countries.

His first two outings for the Meralco Bolts had mixed results, but last 21 March saw the floor general put up numbers that epitomized why he’s been on the radar for many years before finally getting drafted this season.

"I’m just happy to be here," Brickman said after posting 16 points, seven rebounds and five assists in the Bolts' 93-86 win over the Phoenix Fuel Masters in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup on Saturday at Ynares Center.

Brickman made crucial shots, dished out passes and set up the offense during a 30-minute appearance that proved why the Bolts took him seventh overall in the Rookie Draft, even if they had to wait a little longer.

It was a much-improved showing for Brickman, who opened his PBA foray with just three points on 1-of-9 shooting with five assists in a win over the Converge FiberXers.

"I just think I missed some tough shots. I’m [also] dealing with a groin injury, but I mean, I just, I’m eager to play," said Brickman. "I don’t want to miss games. I know all the games are important. regular season is very important to get a good spot for the playoffs.

"So I don’t want to miss any games, but I’m going to just try to ... if I can play, I want to play."

Talks of him joining the PBA have been years in the making, after playing for Malaysia and Thailand clubs the Asean Basketball League, to stints in Taiwan and the MPBL.
