Gardner and the Fukushima Firebonds got swept by the Kobe Storks in the B.League Division 2 Finals last 17 May, losing both the championship and the chance to be promoted to Division 1.

After an embarassing Game 3 loss to the Tropang 5G, the Meralco Bolts pulled the plug on Marvin Jones and replaced him with Patick Gardner before the opening of Game 4 of their best-of-seven semifinals series in the PBA Season 50 Commissioner's Cup last 27 May.

Jones, who played for Meralco since the elimination round, posted only 22 points, 15 rebounds, and three assists in their Game 3 loss. More importantly, he failed to dominate an import-less team.

Meralco Bolts wants its turn to come up with a dagger of a shot this time around.

CJ Cansino redeemed himself from a costly missed shot in the last game by booming in a clutch four-pointer that helped point the Bolts to a 101-90 win over TNT last 27 May that tied up their PBA Commissioner’s Cup semifinals series at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Bong Quinto made the shots that mattered that helped Meralco pull off a 105-102 overtime victory over Magnolia last 16 May at the Ynares Center in Antipolo and into the semifinals of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

Quinto scored eight of his 11 points in the extension, including two charity splits that made it a 105-101 count, only 5.4 ticks to go, and eventually enabled the Bolts to withstand a gallant effort from the Hotshots’ Jerom Lastimosa.

Magnolia now has momentum really built up going to the playoffs following a 93-76 win over Meralco last 10 May in a match winding up their PBA Commissioner’s Cup elimination campaign at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

Clinton Chapman scored 19 points while Paul Lee boomed in a four-pointer and a triple that sparked a big second quarter breakaway that fueled the Hotshots’ surge to as much as two 21-point leads, the last 51-30.

Edmund "Snow" Badua was nabbed at around 2 P.M. last 10 April at his residence in Napocor Village, Barangay Tandang Sora, based on a warrant issued by the Quezon City Regional Trial Court.

The Meralco Bolts is ttrying to stack up some wins wight and they are on track after Marvin Jones and CJ Cansino led the them past the Black Knights in a grind-out game, 115-110. The win allowed the Bolts to keep the solo second place in the PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium last 11 April.

Jones piled up 32 points and 14 rebounds while Cansino came through with 23 markers, seven boards plus a crucial block leading to a game-clinching layup by Jansen Rios as the Bolts scored a third straight win and fifth overall in six outings.

Who Is Expected To Pick First In The Loaded 2027 PBA Draft?

As a result of the PBA’s golden anniversary, the current season is expected to extend to at least 15 months. This means that there will be no PBA draft in 2026. The next event was scheduled to January 2027, which is expected to be the biggest and richest draft in years.

The PBA had asked if the UAAP’s graduating players, including one-and-dones, could apply for this year’s draft but was turned down even with the qualification that those picked would finish their varsity obligations before crossing over.

Again, There Will Be No PBA Draft In 2026

For those who were not yet aware and expects a PBA Draft this year, the event was moved to January 2027. PBA commissioner Willie Marcial has disclosed that with the 50th season extending to over 15 months, the PBA Board decided to hold the draft after the 2026 UAAP season.

Last 2025, Marcial requested UAAP to allow graduating seniors and one-and-done players to apply for the recent draft on condition they finish their varsity eligibility before turning pro. UAAP, however, turned it down. With the adjustment of the draft schedule, the transition of UAAP players to PBA is locked in. NCAA isn’t affected by the new schedule as it has allowed graduating players to enter the draft.

Several online reactions and criticisms came pouring out after Converge FiberXers’ lost to Barangay Ginebra San Miguel, 93-99, last 29 March. Most are divided over a possible inbound violation late in the game involving Coverge's Alec Stockton and Ginebra's Scottie Thompson.

Clips circulating on social media showed that with 52 seconds remaining and Converge trailing by two, Thompson appeared to disrupt the inbound pass while the ball was still in Stockton’s hands. The error led to Justin Brownlee's teardrop shot for a more confortable 97-93 Ginebra lead.

Lastest constroversy from the NBA involved the Chicago Bulls after they waived guard Jaden Ivey last 30 March in the wake of his alleged anti-LGBTQ+ comments and remarks about religion. Ivey reportedly made the controversial videos on his Instagram account.

"They proclaim Pride Month in the NBA," he said. "They proclaim it. They show it to the world. They say come join us for Pride, for Pride Month to celebrate unrighteousness. They proclaim it. They proclaim it on the billboards. They proclaim it in the streets. Unrighteousness. So how is it that one can’t speak righteousness? How are they to say that this man is crazy?"

Former Meralco Player Arrested In Taguig

Taguig City police have arrested former Meralco Bolts player Mark Cardona after he allegedly sexually assaulted a woman at a bar in BGC.

A police report states that on Saturday, 28 March, Cardona "suddenly" grabbed a 21-year-old woman’s hands and kissed her without consent, leading to a confrontation between her boyfriend and the ex-PBA star. According to the report, Cardona, who had "become aggressive," also poked the boyfriend’s eyes as they approached the bouncer to report the incident. Cardona faces charges of physical injuries and acts of lasciviousness.

The Bolts were mostly back to their old methodical ways in yanking Titan Ultra Giant Risers crashing back to earth with a wire-to-wire 118-105 win as the former got back on track in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum last 29 March.

After several years of trying to get is feet in the PBA, Jason Brickman is making sure that he meets the expectaion of Meralco. At 34-years old, Brickman is still considered a rookie but carries vast experience playing for different leagues in different countries.

His first two outings for the Meralco Bolts had mixed results, but last 21 March saw the floor general put up numbers that epitomized why he’s been on the radar for many years before finally getting drafted this season.

The Meralco Bolts are hoping that Vince Magbuhos will be another diamond in the rough when picked him in the second round of the PBA Draft. The team the former UAAP standout from Adamson to a two-year contract in the beginning of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

The 6-foot-5 Fil-Italian was picked no. 19th overall by Meralco in the Season 50 draft, a late selection which the team wishes would turn out to be another case of Bong Quinto or Aaron Black.

Jason Brickman delivered a PBA breakout game and the Meralco Bolts just pounced on Phoenix Fuel Super LPG’s depleted lineup to pull off a 93-86 win in the PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup at the Ynares Sports Center in Antipolo last 21 March.

From a mere three-point game in his PBA debut, Brickman raised the level of his game notches higher, helping the Bolts pull away from a 77-all count enroute to a follow-up to a 109-88 rout of the Converge FiberXers three days before.

Veteran Chris Banchero has been a starter that stirred the team to several success in the last five years, Aaron Black is one of the consistent contributor since the team drafted him in 2019, and Jason Brickman, also known as the "Asian (John) Stockton" brings high-level passing, decision-making, and experience to the Bolts.
