Bolts 120, Dyip 87

CJ Cansino
The Meralco Bolts just overpowered the TerraFirma Dyip, 120-87, to regain their winning ways in the PBA Season 50 Philippine Cup last 10 December at the Ynares Center in Antipolo. CJ Cansino starred for the Bolts, putting up 20 points and eight rebounds in just 20 minutes.

There were four other players reached double-digits for Meralco, as they shot 48.2 percent from the field and had a whopping 67-36 advantage in rebounding.

The Bolts warded off the early scare put up by the Dyip, zooming to a 24-16 lead at the end of the first quarter then imposing their will for the breakaway victory that enhanced their quarterfinals bid although staying at seventh spot with a 4-4 win-loss record.

Cansino, Chris Newsome, Chris Banchero and Brandon Bates did a heavy lifting to lead the team back to winning way after back-to-back losses to NLEX and TNT.

The Meralco quartet proved too much of a burden for Terrafirma which kissed its playoff hopes goodbye with an eighth loss against a lone victory.

Cansino led the way with 20 points on 7-of-15 clip plus eight rebounds as Banchero tossed in 13, Newsome 12 while Bates powered his way to 16 rebounds and seven markers.

"Nahirapan kami sa adjustment galing sa EASL and back to the PBA kasi madami kaming imports sa EASL. But we’re happy to be back at panalo pa," said Cansino.

After the Dyip opened with a 9-0 salvo, the Bolts answered with a 24-7 tear.
