No Final Word Yet From PBA On NorthPort Sale To Pureblends

NorthPort Sale
As of this posting, it is still not clear if the sale of NortPort franchise to Pureblends was approved by the PBA Board.

Representatives of Pureblends Corporation submitted two days ago its letter of intent and other key requirements in its bid to acquire the NorthPort franchise.

PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial conformed that the documents are now in the possession of the review committee tasked to make a recommendations on the reported sale. The Commissioner added that the review committee will submit its recommendation to the board of governors before the start of the PBA Season 50.

"Wala pang final. Yung letter of intent and other other documents pinasa namin sa review committee. Sila ang gagawa ng recommendation," Marcial said.

The league commissioner said that while the reported sale is still under review, NorthPort will still be part of the regular rotation in next Sunday's Annual Draft.

The delayed approval is not sitting well with some fans as they expressed doubts that the other teams are really serious in improving competition in the league.

"SMC like.. ok,, you can enter,, but. .you .. know.. ah.. hahaha #newfarmteam?? wag naman sana..," one poster said.

"subsidiary ng SMC ito ,, hmmm," another one added.

A poster using the name 'Julius' suggested that the whole guideline be revisited.

"The PBA should scrap the 'no direct competitor' rule for franchises. This is why the league lacks competition and is just composed of 4, now just 3, real teams and the others are farm teams. And, please, stop fooling the people and yourselves that there are no farm teams in the PBA. Everyone knows this fact," Julius quipped.
