John Amores Involved In Shooting Incident

John Amores
PBA John Amores just can't shed the bad boy image he acquired during his college days after his name is once again linked to the alleged shooting incident in Lumban, Laguna.

Authorities has launched a manhunt for Amores after the NorthPort player was seen shooting an individual after a basketball game. No one was hurt from the incident.

According to a police blotter received by Spin.ph, Amores and a certain Lee Cacalda, a 32-year old seaman, got into a heated argument after a basketball game in Barangay Salac with Amores allegedly uttering the words "dun tayo magsuntukan."

Cacalda was reportedly followed by Amores out of the paying court at Barangay Maytalang Uno in Lumban, Laguna with Amores shooting the victim using an unknown firearm after they both got off with their respective motorcycles.

Amores was seen running in the general direction of Pagsanjan, Laguna.

A CCTV footage of the incident also shown that the shooting incident took place at the National Road in broad daylight.

Police is now conducting a dragnet operation, and is preparing for a hot pursuit operation for the possible apprehension of Amores.

NorthPort management has been informed of the incident, according to a Spin.ph source.

The incident puts Amores’ future in doubt after being involved in yet another controversy.

Amores was slapped with an indefinite ban by the NCAA after he went on a rampage in a punching incident in a game between his team Jose Rizal University (JRU) and College of Saint Benilde on 8 November 2022.

The shooting incident comes three days after Amores and NorthPort wrapped up their Governors’ Cup campaign with the Batang Pier finishing with a 3-7 win-loss record.

Amores is currently under contract with NorthPort, signing a one-year deal with the Batang Pier before the season.

He averaged 5.1 points and 1.6 rebounds for the Batang Pier in the Governors’ Cup. He also shot a total of 18-of-37 from the field including two fours and seven threes.

UPDATE:
Multiple reports by GMA News and ABS-CBN News said John Amores and his younger brother are already in police custody, deciding to surrender for security reasons after receiving threats.
