One of the questions that some of the Meralco Bolts fans wanted to raise at the start of the 2017 PBA Commissioner's Cup is, who is Joseph Sedurifa?
Sedurifa was the 31st pick of the Bolts during the 2015 Rookie Draft. He was the third player chosen by Meralco after Chris Newsome and Baser Amer.
However, the former star of the fabled Centro Escolar University squad in the NAASCU and 2013 MVP, he never made it to the line-up and was put on the reserve together with Justin Chua and Rey Gueverra.
During his stint at NAASCU, Sedurifa made a name for himself as a streak shooter and an able defender. He translated his game into D-League success as he became one of the vital members of the Aspirants’ Cup champions CafeFrance – the same team which broke the hearts of Amer and Newsome, who were targeting a season double in that year.
Instead of warming the benches of Meralco, Sedurifa went back to the D-League and played for Batangas, where he averaged 16.43 points, 8.29 rebounds, and 3.57 assists.
With Ed Daquioag and Chris Lutz still in the injury list, the Bolts decided to tap Sedurifa to give them additional firepower in their back court.
Though his name isn't as hot as other wings, Sedurifa can hurt Meralco's opponents in many ways. Known mostly for his shooting, Sedurifa has recently shown massive improvement when it comes to beating his opponents off the dribble and going hard to the rim.
Hopefully, this young cager can shown the professional league how good he really is.
