It was already expected that Meralco Bolts is set to receive former Air21 star Sean Anthony from their sister team NLEX once they find a willing team to act as a conduit and after they finalize the terms of the deal.
A few hours ago, the requirements was met and Anthony became a certified Bolts player.
Under the proposal submitted to the PBA office, NLEX, which acquired the Air21 franchise at the end of the season, will send Anthony and Simon Atkins to Blackwater Sports for the Elite's 2016 and 2017 second-round picks as well as rookie Juneric Baloria. The Dioceldo Sy-owned franchise will then ship Anthony and Atkins to Meralco for veteran gunner Sunday Salvacion and big man Jason Ballesteros.
Anthony's move to Meralco was reported by several scribes for some time now after NLEX acquired the Bert Lina-owned Air21 franchise at the end of the season.
Anthony, who arrived from the US last 9 September 2014, was a former Talk 'N Text player who was shipped to Air21 in the Nino Canaleta deal under a 'gentleman's agreement' that he would be returned to the PLDT camp in the event of a sale. He averaged 8.57 points, 4.96 rebounds and 21.39 minutes per game last season. He is also expected to beef up the Bolts frontline composed of resident power-forward Reynel Hugnatan, high-flying Clifford Hodge and the come-backing perennial headcase Rabeh Al-Hussaini.
By joining the trade between the two sister teams, Blackwater acquired two major pieces in Salvacion and Ballesteros, who will come in handy for the Elite after the breakdown of negotiations with dispersal draft pick-up Danny Ildefonso.
