They call this next conference the Sprint Cup, instead of the Governor's Cup for one reason only: the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) wants to finish this as soon as possible to give the national team (Gilas Pilipinas) enough time to practice.
It will be recalled that Gilas Pilipinas is scheduled to take part in the FIBA Asia Cup in Wuhan , China in July before they fly to compete in the FIBA World Cup in Spain on 30 August 2014.
Interestingly, the upcoming schedule is the first time that will give the Meralco Bolts several out-of-town games. The first one will be 07 June in Cagayan De Oro City where they will take on the highly-fancied San Miguel Beermen. Seven days after that will be the last game of the Bolts for the elimination round and it will be in Binan Laguna against the Global Port Batang Pier.
Can new import and NBA veteran Terrence Williams carry the Bolts to the championship round? This is a big question that fans can answer without blinking since coach Ryan Gregorio failed to do that for four years as the head tactician of the team with more impressive imports in the past.
Below is the complete schedule of the Bolt's games this 2014 Governor's Cup:
