Meralco Bolts' 2014 Commissioner’s Cup Schedule

What can we say. The Meralco Bolts management is still adamant on retaining coach Ryan Gregorio despite not having been able to deliver the team to the Finals round in four straight years. And after finishing at a disappointing ninth place in the last conference (their lowest finish thus far), the Meralco Bolts were granted the privilege of tapping an import as tall as 6-foot-11.

This may be the last chance for coach Gregorio to regain the respect of his peers, so he took full advantage of the PBA privilege by bringing in the tallest import in the tournament, NBA D-League First Team member Brian Butch.

Interestingly, Butch is a finesse player on offense despite his size. He has a pretty stroke from the perimeter with range that extends to the three-point line. While he's not really known as a shotblocker, he knows how to use his size to take up space in the paint on defense.

Can Butch save coach Gregorio's job? That will be very interesting to see and watch when the Bolt's open their campaign on 7 March 2014 against powerhouse San Miguel Beermen.
