The Meralco Bolts was hoping that Javee Mocon will rekindle his PBA career after they acquired the veteran forward in a recent trade with NLEX.
Coach Luigi Trillo describes Mocon as a 'good kid' who he had admired from a distance since his college days with the San Beda Red Lions in the NCAA.
"I was a big fan of his game when he was in San Beda," said Trillo of Mocon, who won four NCAA seniors championships and two more juniors titles with the Mendiola-based school.
"Very happy to have Javee. He does the dirty work and he can rebound. He can play multiple positions 3 and 4."
Mocon did not disappoint the Bolts.
In their first game in the PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup at Ynares Center in Antipolo last 18 March, Meralco romped over Coverge, 109-88.
Import Marvin Jones led the team in scoring with 29 points. CJ Cansino and Chris Newsome complemented Jones with 23 and 19 points, respectively. Mocon added 9 points to help the Bolts secure their 300th win in franchise history.
The 30-year old Mocon was all over the place as he helped sustain the Bolts bench scoring. Aside from scoring, he had 2 steals in just 6 minutes.
Mocon landed at Meralco in a three-team, five player trade. He was initially shipped by NLEX to Converge along with Jonnel Policarpio for the duo of Schonny Winston and Kevin Racal, before the FiberXers sent him to the Bolts for rookie guard Kurt Reyson and a Season 52 second-round pick.
