The Meralco Bolts dropped to 0-2 in Group B of the East Asia Super League (EASL) as it continued to miss the services of Justin Brownlee.
The Bolts fell to the Taoyuan Pauian Pilots, 82-72, last 2 November at Taoyuan Arena, less than two weeks after losing to the Ryukyu Golden Kings in their season-opener.
Trailing for most of the game, Meralco still had a chance to steal the game after pulling within six after Rondae Hollis-Jefferson’s free throws with 32 seconds remaining.
But that was the closest the Bolts came after Taoyuan’s Amdy Dieng made two free throws and Hollis-Jefferson missed a 3-pointer.
After cutting the lead with his freebies, though, Hollis-Jefferson made a costly mistake on the other end, fouling Amdy Dieng, who went two-for-two from the line to regain an 80-72 advantage in the offing.
