Terrence Jones was signed by the TNT KaTropa of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) as the team's import for the 2019 PBA Commissioner's Cup. In his PBA debut for the TNT Katropa, Jones recorded 41 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists in almost 37 minutes of playing time in a win over the NLEX Road Warriors.
However, Jones fell short of winning the title, conceding the championship in six games against the Chris McCullough-led San Miguel Beermen. But in terms of individually achievements, Jones did claim the title of Best Import in that same conference, dethroning Justin Brownlee in the process.
The 6-foot-9 forward joins fellow imports, Justin Brownlee and Allen Durham as the only PBA imports to rack up a triple-double in a PBA game in the past decade.
Jones' lone conference in the PBA saw him rack up per-game numbers of 30.2 points, 15.7 rebounds, and a conference-high 7.5 assists. The former Houston Rocket let his game do his talking night in and night out. Jones was simply as good as advertised and showcased his NBA-caliber talent every time he hit the hardcourt.
Jones is also widely known with his involvement in one of the most bizarre on-court altercations in the PBA in 2019.
The incident occurred when Jones was knocked to the ground in the fourth quarter by then Phoenix player Calvin Abueva. Jones retaliated with a low blow and an elbow to the chin, and he proceeded to dance to the music playing in the arena as Abueva shook it off.
On the next play, Jones grabbed a defensive rebound and was met with a blindsided clothesline from Abueva, knocking him out of bounds and to the ground. Jones bounced up and went at Abueva, but teammates and officials intervened before the incident could escalate any further. Then, just like Jones, Abueva danced along to the arena music before he was ejected.
Abueva was fined 50,000 Philippine pesos (US$ 966) and suspended indefinitely (he was involved in another incident), while Jones was fined 70,000 Philippine pesos (US$ 1,353), according to the PBA's website.
Jones was drafted 18th overall in 2012 by Houston, where he spent his first four NBA seasons. He played two games for the Rockets this season in February and March while on 10-day contracts. He has career averages of 10.4 points and 5.7 rebounds.
On 10 April 2023, Jones was signed by the Leones de Ponce of the Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN) as an injury replacement for their import player Eric Paschall.[59]
