Meralco Taps 7-Footer Marvin Jones As Its Import

Marvin Jones
Meralco has already abandoned its plans to tap the controversial Ismael Romero as its import for the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

The Bolts announced on Saturday the signing of Marvin Jones for the midseason conference after Romero’s status dimmed following an incident in the Dubai Invitational Basketball Tournament.

Jones is listed at 7 feet and has had stints in Europe.

Romero was initially planned to reinforce Meralco ever since he arrived early for the club’s stint in the East Asia Super League.

But Romero found himself in hot water when he kicked former PBA player Nick Demusis, who was playing for the Zamboanga Valientes in the same Dubai competition.

Romero was playing for Al Ahli Tripoli, a team from Libya, when the incident took place.

Coach Luigi Trillo had earlier said that Romero was still eyed to play for the Bolts in the Commissioner’s Cup, but added that he must atone for his miscue.

The Bolts, however, decided to take a different direction.
