Bolts 83, Hotshots 81

Emmet Scores
Andre Emmett had 37 points as the Meralco Bolts breathed a heavy sigh of relief, escaping the Star Hotshots, 83-81, on 17 May 2015.

The Meralco import added 15 rebounds, six assists and five steals in 42 minutes. Other reinforcement Seiya Ando chipped in 11, while Cliff Hodge and Danny Ildefonso had eight each.

The two teams were tied in the final three and a half minutes, before Andre Emmett connected on back to back hits to put Meralco ahead, 81-77. Marc Pingris responded at the other end for the Hotshots, but Danny Ildefonso delivered for Meralco in the ensuing play. An Alex Mallari basket cut the lead to two anew, and the Star Hotshots buckled down on defense to force a turnover with 37 ticks left.

Off a timeout, the Hotshots went to Joe Devance for the equalizer, but his shot didn't find the bottom of the net. Andre Emmett committed a turnover at the end, though, giving the Star Hotshots possession with 4.2 remaining. In the final play, Blakely went for the win, but his try failed to go in.

Marqus Blakely led the Hotshots with 20 points and eight rebounds, but the import accounted for 10 turnovers. Joe Devance was the only other starter in double figures with 15, as James Yap, PJ Simon and Marc Pingris combined for just 16. Alex Mallari was the lone bright spot off the bench with 13 points and six assists.

The Meralco Bolts improved to 2-2, tying the San Miguel Beermen. The Hotshots, on the other hand, absorbed their second straight loss to slide down to 1-2 with the NLEX Road Warriors. (from GMANEWS.TV)
