If you think that the application of Manny Pacquiao in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) draft is a big joke, then you may want to reconsider it. What could be a bigger joke is the decision of Ritchie Paul Rama Gutierrez to apply as well.
Ritchie who? This is exactly my question a few minutes ago.
According to the GMA New report, Ritchi is the youngest child of Eddie Gutierrez and Annabelle Rama. Apparently, the 6’1” guard from De La Salle University has thrown his hat into the ring of those looking to join the professional league when he was included in the list released be the league on 13 August 2014.
Ritchie is the brother of actress Ruffa Gutierrez and television host Raymond, and actors Richard, Rocky, and Elvis. And like his siblings, Gutierrez previously dabbled in television, starring in GMA-7 series Alakdana, Pilyang Kerubin and Zorro. He also had a short-lived in music career as a rapper.
Too bad the Asia's oldest professional basketball league doesn't have an option to weed out 'nuisance candidates' otherwise we would have two less unqualified draftees a few days from now.
The draft will be held on 24 August 2014. Among the top aspirants are Filipino-American stars Stanley Pringle, Chris Banchero, Kevin Alas and Matt Ganuelas.
