Gilas Players Ask for Donation for Typhoon Victims

Members of the Philippine National Men's basketball team have raised PhP 100,000 among themselves to donate to victims of super typhoon "Yolanda," which ravaged the Philippines this past week.

Gilas Pilipinas coach Chot Reyes made the announcement during a live telethon on TV5 to raise funds for victims.

Reyes, who is also an executive of the network, led a delegation of PBA players who participated in the telethon. Gilas players Jimmy Alapag, Gabe Norwood, Larry Fonacier, and Gary David along with Jared Dillinger of Meralco and Chris Tiu of Rain or Shine, coach Norman Black of Talk ‘N Text, coach Ryan Gregorio of Meralco, assistant coach Richard del Rosario of San Mig Coffee, and Sports5 anchors and analysts Mico Halili, Jason Webb and Dominic Uy took phone calls during the telethon, along with TV5 stars and celebrities.

Viewers can still make pledges and donations by calling 689-3355 or emailing tulongkapatid@tv5.com.ph. People can also ask for help connecting with loved ones at the Alagang Kapatid Foundation Facebook page.

Donations in cash and in kind may be dropped off at the AKFI Warehouse 730 Quirino Highway, San Bartolome, Novaliches, Quezon City, Philippines.
