Bolts 102, Ginebra 99

Andre
Meralco squeaked past Ginebra, 102-99, to notch its fifth win in the 2015 PBA Governors’ Cup last 14 June 2015 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Andre Emmett had 34 points, while Reynel Hugnatan and Seiya Ando chipped in 12 points each. Jared Dillinger and Gary David also provided points off the bench, tallying 12 and 10 points, respectively.

"That was a thrilling win for us, a gutsy win," said Meralco head coach Norman Black. "It was a great game between two teams that really needed a win."

The Bolts barely edged Ginebra at the half, holding on to a 50-48 lead. The Gin Kings turned it around in the third, though, exploding for 32 points while limiting Meralco to just 25 to take an 80-75 edge heading into the fourth.

The Bolts badgered Ginebra's defense to start the fourth, uncorking a 16-4 run to establish a seven-point lead, 91-84.

Ginebra made it interesting in the final minute and change, as Japeth Aguilar accounted for a five-point swing that tied the game with 42 seconds left. Meralco called for time and found Emmett for the go-ahead basket with 32 seconds left, 101-99. The Gin Kings had a chance to tie or take the lead, but import Omar Johnson turned the ball over as Emmett secured a split for the victory.

Ginebra drew a lot from its starters, as the five combined for 87 points. Other import Jiwan Kim was the only player to come off the bench to score with 12 points.
