The Meralco Bolts took care of business against GlobalPort, 82-70, on Tuesday (9 December 2014) at Cuneta Astrodome to secure the sixth seed in the 2015 Philippine Cup playoffs.

Their reward is a first round matchup against the defending Grand Slam champion Purefoods, who are the seventh seed. The Hotshots, the Bolts, and Barangay Ginebra San Miguel all finished the elimination round with identical 6-5 records, with quotient determining the seedings of the three teams.

"Twice-to-beat advantage is really good for us," said Meralco coach Norman Black. "We need every advantage we can."

GlobalPort, meanwhile, fell to 5-6 for the eight seed. The Batang Pier are paired up against the Gin Kings, who will have twice-to-beat advantage in their series.

San Miguel Beer and Rain or Shine are already seeded into the semifinals as the top two teams in the eliminations. Third-seed Alaska will battle 10th seed NLEX, while fourth seed Talk 'N Text will face off against ninth seed Barako Bull, with the higher-seeded teams enjoying twice-to-beat advantage.
