Bolts 69, Aces 87

Aces Manuel
The Alaska Aces surprised the Meralco Bolts with a 27-12 first quarter and never looked back, cruising to an 87-69 victory last 7 December 2014.

Vic Manuel led the Aces with 17 points, while Cyrus Baguio had 15. Dondon Hontiveros added 13 while JV Casio had 11.

"The story of the game, yung umpisa namin kapag [at the] half kalaban mo naka-25 lang malaki tsansa mo," said Alaska head coach Alex Compton. "Meralco came back in the second half [but] sobrang ganda ng first half namin."

The score was at 47-25 at the half, and Meralco struggled to overcome the deficit in the last two quarters.

John Wilson top-scored for Meralco with 16 points, while Sean Anthony and Mike Cortez had 11 apiece. No other Bolt scored in double figures, as Gary David was limited to eight, while Cliff Hodge struggled with just five points.

Alaska now has to face Rain or Shine in the semifinals- a series Compton expects to be a good one:

"I actually expect that to be a great series. Ang taas ng respeto ko sa kanila," Compton added. Doon ako nagsimula ang coahing ko. Si coach Yeng isa sa pinakamagaling sa liga; they match up well with us. I expect a very good series, all coming down to the last play."

The Aces head coach is in good spirits facing a tough team, given the tools he has.

"We play these guys, [we] play to get the championship," Compton stressed. "Ang gusto ko sa players ng Alaska napakasipag naman. All our players work hard everyday."
