The Bolts have added the consensus best low post player in the 2011 PBA draft in Jason Ballesteros. They also added his fellow San Sebastian College teammate Gilbert Bulawan with their second round pick.
Ballesteros, is a no-brainer with their first round pick. The SMART GILAS back-up center was the top-ranked player in his position in the draft. He will be coming to a team that already has natural center in Asi Taulava and a converted center in Reynel Hugnatan on the roster.
Bulawan is a bit offensively challenged. He’s been working hard on developing his jumper. However, he has not shown any big improvement that could merit a rise in his stock.
There are also four new players in the line-up, namely, Bryan Faundo, Mark Yee, Mark Macapagal and Chico Lanete. Gone are RenRen Ritualo (released), Marlou Aquino (returned to Barako Bull, now Shopinas), Ogie Menor (traded to Powerade), Chris Timberlake (traded to Powerade), Shawn Weinstein (traded to Talk ‘N’ Text) and BamBam Gamalinda (traded to Talk ‘N’ Text).
Still trying out for a spot in the team is guard Borgy Hermida, while Bitoy Omolon is renegotiating his contract. The complete player roster at this time are listed below:
